History: American Legion & Post 363

The American Legion was chartered by Congress in 1919 as a patriotic veterans organization. The Legion evolved from a group of war-weary veterans of World War I into one of the most influential nonprofit groups in the United States. Over the years, the Legion has built its identity by achieving hundreds of benefits and services for veterans, supporting the U.S. Armed Forces and instilling the values of responsible citizenship among young people. Veterans of the the American Legion have worked for over a century to improve and strengthen the nation they swore with their lives to defend.

Post 363: Our Post is named after Buffalo Solder James S. Rogers (1875-1954), a U.S. Army private who served in the Spanish-American War. Rogers is memorialized in the VA’s Veterans Legacy Memorial.

The Post was organized in 1943 (post-WWII era). Membership records show growth by the mid-1950s as recorded in North Carolina newspaper archives and American Legion reports.

Location: In 1956, the Post purchased a lot at 127 W. Barbee St. Zebulon, North Carolina

Operation Facelift: Restoring Post 363

We Need Your Help

For generations, American Legion Post 363 has been a pillar of the Zebulon community. It has been a gathering place for veterans, a hub for community events and a symbol of service and unity.

However, our building is showing its age and can no longer fully serve the needs of our veterans and our neighbors. By partnering with us, not only are you helping to restore a structure; you are revitalizing a legacy and community pride. Your generosity will help us raise the flag on a new era of patriotism, connection and remembrance. Together, we can make certain that the heart of America continues to beat strong when we stand united.

Join us in this important mission of restoration. No contribution is too small. Every dollar will be used to help us create a safe, modern, and accessible facility that will honor our past and solidify a brighter, more vibrant future for all.
